Letter from the Chairman:

Dear NAMO Members,

It was indeed a pleasure seeing everyone that attended our annual conference in Boston, MA.   I would like to first thank all of you for making our 2010 conference a success.   We tried something on this year that had never been done before and that was to take the conference into uncharted waters (Boston).  We did not know what to expect as far as how we would be received, what to expect as far as attendance, or to what extent we would be able to negotiate the pricing structure for hotel, food, or various expenses.  But with the diligent efforts of Frank Smith, Mary Presley,  Joan Libby, all of the vendors, and many of our members and spouses we pulled it off.

We would like to thank our outgoing Chairman Gene Wright for over nine years of dedicated leadership to the National Association of Motorcoach Operators.  Our association was his brain child and he helped nurture and guide this organization through the ups and downs of its infancy.  We are a much stronger and viable organization because of Gene.  Gene will still be an active member of the Board and we willl look to him for leadership and the calming influence he has always displayed.  Again, Thanks Gene!

I would also like to officially congratulate and  welcomeFrank Farrow and Sara Hamlin to our Board.  Both Frank and Sara bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Board and I believe their expertise will  better the Board of Directors and the association.   Welcome aboard!

Congratulations to all of the elected officers returning to positions (Rev. Morgan, Edie Harris, Paul Best, and Frank Smith).  Special congrats to our newVice Chairman, Ed Mason.  Ed's tenacity and stick to-it-ness will definitely keep me on my toes.  But seriously, I have enjoyed working with him in the past and believe we will make a good team going forward..

That being said, to the Chairman of all of the standing committees, it is time for us to go to work.  We will began setting goals that will take this association to the next level.  We will energize the membership  to help us achieve these goals.  We will keep the things that are working and we will get rid of the things that are not.  We will evaluate our conference and streamline where we can; and get the best "bang for the buck" on the money that we spend.  I know that everyone has a company to run, but we the Board of Directors have assumed the roles to lead NAMO and we will do just that, LEAD!

I will be in contact with the Committee Chairmen individually within the next two weeks.  No subject or idea is off of the table.  Again, Thanks for a job well done on this year's conference. 

With Boston now behind us and as we look forward to our Semi-annual Meeting (January, 2011) inTampa, FL  and next year's NAMO Conference in Virginia Beach, VA (August, 2011), prepare to  roll up your sleeves and go to work.  I look forward to working with the entire membership  and for your support.
